Our apple trees are doing well! After 3 years of drought, flooding, and a late frost, fingers crossed we get a good crop! Mmmm apple pie and applesauce.
So, I am taking a course on Nature in Japanese Art and as part of my research I was able to view a 16th century Japanese Zen Buddhist ink painting screen in the collection at the Art Institute of Chicago. It was a great experience to view the piece in storage and have a chance to speak with the staff about it, other Japanese artworks, and art in general.
While I’m certainly not happy about the Spring snow, it does make for a nice, clean ground to highlight a single object. I love the geometry of nature. Yay Fibonacci Spiral!!
